A strong core is about more than just six-pack abs\u2014it\u2019s the foundation of your movement, balance, and posture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">At Beekstar Fitness, my focus is primarily on functional fitness\u2014exercises that help you move better in daily life, not just look good in a mirror. If you want to build a strong core that supports you in everything from lifting groceries to running a marathon, swap out crunches for these three powerhouse exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Dead Bug<\/strong> \u2013 Mastering Core Stability<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The dead bug exercise strengthens your deep core muscles while keeping your spine stable\u2014something crunches don\u2019t do effectively. This movement forces your core to resist rotation and extension, training it for real-world movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Do It:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Lie on your back with your arms extended toward the ceiling and your knees bent at 90 degrees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Slowly lower your right arm and left leg toward the floor while keeping your core engaged and your lower back pressed into the mat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Return to the starting position and switch sides.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Perform 10\u201312 reps per side.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Why It Works:<\/strong> Dead bugs improve coordination and strengthen the core in a way that protects your spine, helping prevent injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Plank Variations<\/strong> \u2013 Building Endurance and Strength<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A basic plank is a great way to build core strength, but adding movement makes it even more effective.
